While the cannabis products OUI supports are a naturally grown, safe product, high quality products, OUI believes it is critical that every consumer understands the possible risks associated with cannabis use.
Our commitment to your well-being means providing you with comprehensive information to make informed decisions.
Age and Brain Development:
OUI's policy is that cannabis should not be used on the developing (>25 years) brain without a physician's guidance.
This is particularly important due to how cannabis interacts with the brain, especially the prefrontal cortex, which continues developing until around age 25.
Overconsumption:
During experimentation, clients sometimes overdo it.
Remember:
No one has ever died from cannabis overdose*.
If you feel too high, the solution is: Water, CBD*, and sleep.
CBD calms the effects of THC, so when experimenting with THC we suggest you keep a CBD vape pen, or tincture on hand.
*Plenty of people have died for Alcohol, Opiod and amphetamine overdose who have also had cannabis in their system. OUI strongly suggests not combining cannabis with recreational or prescribed drugs and alcohol.
Cannabis and Alcohol:
These substances amplify each other. A good rule is to multiply your perceived alcohol consumption by 2 if you've also consumed cannabis.
Smoking Risks:
All forms of smoking, including cannabis, can harm lung health. Learn More
Black and Grey Market Dangers:
Unregulated cannabis may contain the following, it is critical that you purchase cannabis from licenses dispensaries because these products are regulated and lab tested for safety , quality and efficacy.
Fentanyl: A potent synthetic opioid, lethal in small doses.
Synthetic cannabinoids: Man-made chemicals mimicking THC, often with unpredictable and dangerous effects.
Mold: Can cause respiratory issues and allergic reactions.
Harmful vape chemicals: Unregulated additives that can cause severe lung damage.
Cannabis Use Disorder (CUD):
Marijuana and cannabis can become addictive, with statistics sighting cannabis use disorder effecting 10% of users. CUD is characterized by inability to stop using cannabis despite negative consequences, increased tolerance, and withdrawal symptoms when not using.
Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS):
Chronic (years) daily users can experience CHS. Which is a version of CVS, or constant uncontrollable vomiting . This condition requires medical intervention and cessation of cannabis use. this condition is on the rise in the younger male consumer. Thankfully the "cure" is as simple as cessation of cannabis use!
At OUI, we believe in the potential benefits of cannabis when used responsibly. By being aware of these risks, you can make safer, more informed choices about your cannabis use. Always prioritize your health and well-being, and consult with healthcare professionals when in doubt.
